This is a urban renovation project designed by Tsuyoshi Kawata. The site is at Osaka, Japan where it used to be a busy ceramic market 300 years ago. The house will consist of 6 rooms plus gardens in between, and a clear roof wrap around.
The project is realized by MOS Architects (Michael Meredith, Hilary Sample) through the project ORDOS 100, in Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China for Jiang Yuan Water Engineering Ltd as a mainly a private residence. According to the architects ”We based our proposal upon a traditional Chinese courtyard house typology. Each room and function is housed within an individual building volume, which are connected at the corners to remove the need for hallways and excessive circulation space.”
