I seldom watch canadian TV commercials mostly because many of them are boring, they either are dumb to death or stupid to hell, but i have to say the TV commercial of H&M “spring fashion series” caught my attention at its first debut on my TV.

H&M Spring Fashion
Of course, it has something to do with architecture. Then I thought maybe this is directed by an architect. But Youtube proves me wrong. It is directed by Johan Renck ,a Swedish musician, music video director and now film director.
What interests me is really the space logic behind it.
Secne 1: A lady apprears in a white corridor where each side of the corridor walls are full of red doors. Then the space turns upside down, a gentleman walks out of the door.
Floor = Ceiling ; Doors on corridor walls could be rearranged freely.

Scene 2: The lady on a ladder in a room, she climbs up to the ceiling till her head is out only to realize that her head is actually out from the floor.
Floor = Ceiling; Although the ladder is unlimited to near infinity but it leads you to nowhere.

Scene 3: The lady walks down a long staircase, she keeps walking till she find that the last step is still up high in space and also in the middle of nowhere.
Stairs are limited but space is not.

At last i still don’t know what the commercial is trying to say. but, i think it does however proposed a very interesting point of view on how people look at space. Maybe it is imaginary, maybe it doesn’t make any sense, but at least it leads us to look at the space in a not so much take for granted way.
